Oficios Street

Located in the city centre between Plaza de Alonso Cano and Gran Vía de Colón, it is a charming pedestrian street that pays homage to the offices of the Cabildo. In this place, the Catholic Monarchs made the decision in 1500 to assign as the seat of the City Council the building of the first and only public Arab university in al-Andalus, together with its Royal Chapel, which was intended to receive their bodies when they died, as finally happened. For five centuries, the Kings rest here.

On the side of this street, you will also find the southern flank of the Church of El Sagrario and, behind it, the market hall, which today serves as the antechamber to the Royal Chapel. On the opposite sidewalk, there is a museum dedicated to the Granada-born artist José Guerrero

Additionally, the Madraza, an ancient Arab university founded between 1333 and 1353 AH by Yusuf I of Granada, has been restored by the University and is now used as an exhibition center and auditorium, as well as a monument that delights visitors. Calle Oficios is a place that breathes history and culture in the heart of Granada.
