A LOVE LETTER AT THE ALHAMBRA MUSEUM

In every corner of the Alhambra, forgotten tales are hidden forever. However, after 92 years, a love letter written by Pepe to his beloved Emilia in 1921 has come to light. This letter was hidden in the Mudejar framework of a now-disappeared church in Granada. The message, written on humble paper with simple spelling, informed Emilia that another message, accompanied by a bunch of grapes intended for a certain Don Antonio, would be sent through a messenger. Pepe, originally from the Alpujarran municipality of Sorvilán, was the author of this letter. “If the grapes are not delivered on Wednesday, do not speak on Thursday with the one who delivers them (…) Let me know if you received the grapes and that you will send the letters with the one who carries the bunch (…) Without more for today, kisses from the one who loves you,” the letter expressed. For decades, this letter has remained hidden, with nothing known about the protagonists of this emotional story.
