The Bosque de San Pedro, is a magical place on the northern slope of the Alhambra. This enchanting forest, which extends over 4.2 hectares, has roots dating back to medieval times.
Originally created as a hunting reserve for Sultan Muley Hazen, this forest has evolved over the years into a serene woodland.
Today, San Pedro Forest is home to an impressive diversity of trees, with 21 different species and more than 1,000 trees in total. The hackberry stands out as the predominant species, but you can also find privets, almond trees, ash trees, laurels, elms, false acacias, Judas trees and cypresses, among others.
This forest is not only a natural treasure, but also serves two vital roles: controlling erosion and landslides on the hillside, and enhancing the landscape of the Alhambra. It is a place that combines history, nature and beauty in one special corner of Granada.
