“In 1536, the majestic Puerta de las Granadas was erected as a solemn entrance to the Alhambra. This impressive project was the work of Pedro Machuca.”
“This Renaissance gate replaced an earlier Islamic gate, whose remains can still be seen on its right side. Beyond the gate extends the beautiful forest of the Alhambra, crossed by three paths, two of them pedestrian. The right path leads to the Torres Bermejas, the Manuel de Falla Auditorium, and the Carmen de los Mártires, while the left path, formerly known as the ‘Cobblestone Slope,’ starts from a devotional marble cross from 1641 and guides you to the southern flank of the Alhambra wall, where various entrances are located.”.
