Plaza de la Trinidad
Located between Mesones and Duquesa streets, it occupies the space that previously housed the convent and orchard of the Trinitarian Fathers. The construction of the convent began in 1517 on the grounds of the orchard of the hospital for the insane, next to Mesones street. The convent church was renovated and expanded in the 17th century. The nave of the convent, facing Tablas street, was built in 1530, and the courtyard was completed in the 17th century, with a cloister featuring seven stone arches on each side and dark marble Doric columns
It was in this convent, Father Fray Antonio de la Chica Benavides composed his work “El Mamotreto de la Gacetilla Curiosa o Semanero Granadino,” a publication that circulated from 1764 to 1765, providing news and utilities for the common good. After the disentailment, the offices of the Royal Treasury were established in this convent.
